Re: Phillipa Laing RIP

Ted Neal ask me to post this message. I am so sorry to hear of Phillipa’s passing/ She was a most remarkable woman with a great sense of humour and more knowledge on Dexters than most others put together. It was great in 1992 to have her as Centenary President and be able to record her name for post...

New Farmers Country Showdown

I have received this correspondence and posted it here. Dear Mark, BBC One 3rd January 2022 Farmer Country Showdown featuring my Greyfriars Dexter Cattle I read the DCFS Discussion Board, but I don't know how to post things, so I thought I would contact you direct to see if this might be of interest...

Re: Leek Market Christmas Primestock Show &Sale

At £4 per kg its hardly worth taking the animal to slaughter yourself and selling the beef with all its extra costs. At £6 plus per kg i would get into proper large scale breeding and make my fortune!

Re: Show halters

Showtime do some dairy leather halters, i have used them for many years. Not sure where you get adjustable noseband halters from, never been able to find any.

Re: Carlisle Sale entries

Sounds like it was a steady sale with the averages i have seen. It seems a much better sale than others around the country.

Phillipa Laing RIP

Very sadly Phillipa Laing passed away peacefully on Sunday 21st June. A real dedicated passionate dexter breeder for what seems like a million years, her herd prefix of Templeton will be in most dexter pedigrees somewhere. She will be missed on the show circuit especially down in her Devon home coun...

Keep the milk going for a while yet, she needs to be on the hard food proper before you wean her off.

Re: Cull cow

I have just run a cull cow into JS Meats at Uttoxeter, they paid £130 per kg deadweight for my dexter but just check if you ring them. They only kill 2 days a week and you have to be there for 7.00am.

We are blessed as owners and breeders to be able to just about work as normal on our smallholdings, I for one am very grateful.
