Re: Isolation and Loneliness in the Farming Community

Gosh Stefanie, that was NOT a personal affront to you and I apologize if it seemed such. It was information for folks who may not know what they are giving up by joining and participating in Facebook.  At the very least, their own privacy. . . . . but they are also endangering the privacy of friends...

Re: Isolation and Loneliness in the Farming Community

Do you believe in coincidence? After the last World War, the Central Intelligence Agency ( CIA) and DARPA, began a program to gather ALL available information on US citizens. Everything about them. You can think about whether the intelligence agencies around the world have infiltrated everything, ev...

Dwarf breeder - Isle of Man?

Probably a couple years ago there was a discussion of chondrodysplasia and the deformed calves aborted in some cases. Thee was a breeder who posted statistics he kept within his herd. I recall the percentage, 6%, but cannot find his post. Can someone help put me in touch? Or if the poster reads this...

Re: Your best guess on historical bull

While looking up data this morning, I ran across the photo of Sparr Nero on the Legacy site. I never answered my own question posted here. . .. that the bull in the Pathe video seems to be Sparr Nero. Speaking of which. . .. . . .for those who like browsing pedigrees and history. . . .you definitely...

Re: Phillipa Laing RIP

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. Laing, who was always very kind and patient with my historical inquiries. Such a long and productive Dexter life she enjoyed. Many decades of raising Dexters, and sharing her knowledge and experience were a blessing to the breed. Yes. .. may she rest in p...

Seeking Woodmagic samples/results

I own animals from a herd in the US that was founded on 5 cows and one bull in the mid 1960's. The original bull was replaced in 1973 and the herd moved and relocated in a sparse agricultural area across country. For nearly 40 years this herd was closed. I have DNA typed animals from this herd and t...

Geographical Question

Are there any Dexter owners/breeders near Hartpury, Gloucester?

I am seeking some historical information resources. Even the name of an elder person, or an elder's home in the area where I could write.

Thanks.

Re: bringing back the extinct dexter

No. It is not silly. Here is some US history as to color. Original imports from Ireland and England to the USA arrived in the first two decades of the 1900’s. There were quite a few cattle registered as red. There were over 200 cattle imported. By the late 1940’s we can only identify TWO cows that m...

Re: Harley Poll - 1894 Foundation Dexter

Kirk has published this picture on every site where he is still permitted to post. On his own FB web page the owner of this cow chimed in stating there are two tests showing this cow is polled. I have repeatedly requested both of them to SHOW THE RESULTS. They have not. Kirk is trading in what has b...

Need 2 pages from DCS Herd book 1940

If you have a herd book for 1940, I would be most grateful for a copy of page 24 and page 25.
It is as simple as taking a photo of the two pages with your cell phone and then emailing them to:
LegacyDatabase@aol.com Or posting here if that is possible.

Thanks!

Re: Question on skull

THANK YOU Stephanie. I should have figured that out myself! What a dolt. It is exactly how I do it on a different group. duh. I uploaded them and they are above the original message. The one I had in mind when I wrote the message is at the bottom, and I added the larger one to show some variation in...

Question on skull

IMG_0045.JPG IMG_0033.JPG I am hoping Ms. Gidney can answer this question. I have a photo of the skull which I do not know how to upload, and will do so if someone can tell me how to do it from my computer as I don't use internet photo sites. I have been working to identify animals from a herd that...
