I took Pennys advice and let a dexter wean her calf naturally and it was indeed quite stress free. They were yarded at the time and when I felt the time was right I simply moved the calf into the adjoining pen where she could see Mum but not suckle and as the cow was about dry by then there was no ...

I too must congratulate you on the website, the discussion board has been most useful when I, as a newcomer to Dexters, needed help. I agree that photographs would be nice as it would be great to see other owners stock.

I have got the heifer I wanted, short legged,out of a lovely quiet cow so am delighted. The other one to calve produced a bull calf so he will end up in the freezer which will keep the rest of my family happy. As its my first year actually calving some of my own I am just pleased everything went ok...

I did have problems with my password but it seems to be sorted now. I guess the site is quiet as everyone is working hard now that spring and the floods are here!

My Dexters desperately need their feet trimming as they seem to have grown so long whilst yarded over the winter. Does anyone know who would visit the East Yorkshire area to carry out such a service as I do not have the experience to try and trim them myself?
