That may be the case Mark but I don’t see the situation as regards demand improving. Whilst they are ideally suited for some types of land due to their small size things would not change in that people keeping them would still have to do all the marketing/sales themselves.

I don’t think the government is bothered what happens to the farming industry post Brexit as long as they are able to import cheap food from somewhere to feed the masses. I think smallholdings will become more expensive as the fortunate wish to produce wholesome food for themselves. As for local foo...

If it has been kept short then getting it to eat in sufficient quantities to put weight on in a short amount of time may be difficult. Contra to popular belief top quality haylage ad lib is a good start together with a kilo and a half of beef nuts daily split into a couple of feeds.

Whilst I understand the feelings of those living in low risk tb areas of the country, when you take an animal to a sale and decide to bring it home because it doesn’t reach the price you were willing to accept then you have by the very nature of sales mingled it with others. Thank you for that summary Di. I would just like to point out at the meeting that took place prior to the last agm (when many were at the Bath and West), nominated proxies were not permitted to speak on behalf of their proxy if they were representing more than one person.
