Dexter Cattle For Sale Discussion Board

Interesting to read all the ideas re bulls for crossing. Has anyone else used the North Devon as we do. They are a breed that do well on grass and typically have smaller calves.
As per my earlier post the returns as suckled calves are not to be sniffed at.

Perhaps the Devon is not so well travelled?

I would say that a standard ring feeder for standard bales is best as a smaller feeder will probably increase the waste. Just a comment really.
I see the Kivells site has some indication regarding numbers but I would like to have seen a proper catalogue fitting for a pedigree sale. Devon and Cornwall covers a large area, it would be encouraging to know more before traveling.

Update on the cow and calf. Had the vet Friday morning and she says the udder has had an infection which has caused the udder problem. She seems to think there has been a slow build up and not mastitis that has been prevelent this spring. We have now given penstrep and the calf is being hand reared....
