Thanks for that Ann Lea, we ve just brought an old cattle crush bought on Ebay from Midlands... and it need to have a new floor put in. I am not so keen on putting animals in restraints like that but it needs to be done for the vet... I am not buying calf dehorning crate as our herd is too small fo...

I have ordered something called control halter from USA, with chains under chin- do you know how it works? I think it must tighten when pulled or something... Does anyone is using it? USA market is quite good as it supplies all sizes- I wonder if a yearling size would fit a Dexter...

Hi Steve! How do you make a false floor to fit a small cow then? Does it have any anti slip surface? I am a total newbie when it comes to restraints so please tell me how you go about castrating a young bull in a crush! I will owe you a pint! Thanks :O

Well I have 2 cows with calves bought straight off the hill, never handled and still very shy when we approach them. my great ambition is to train them to a halter and being able to milk them so it is a long way to go. Hello everybody, I ve just joined the forum! Can you please let me know how to make a false floor in a normal size crush to make it fit for Dexters? Are you using wood planks or something more sturdy? How to apply a belly strap? We have a vet coming soon to castrate two boys... :O
