Re: Payment for transfer of ownership
At the end of the day the Society has to take in enough money to pay for the services it provides. . We are in a catch up period after years of mismanagement where nothing was really as it seemed, and the new system will take time to see how it goes. Lets not panic, give it all a chance.

Re: Payment for transfer of ownership
I can't put my hand on the paper but I am sure we were told of changes in advance. To be honest I think that the seller paying the transfer fee may reduce the number of good breeding cattle sold and never registered. The last heifer I sold was to be a wedding present and I charged enough to be able ...

Re: shadwell prefix
How nice to hear from a member of the Tetley family, there is a lot of interest in historical Dexters and I am sure lots of people, not just in UK but worldwide, would be very pleased if you posted any pictures of your dad's Dexters.

More or less every year the Isle of Bute is greener in February than it is at the end of March or even into April.

Re: Harley Poll - 1894 Foundation Dexter
Kirk has said on other forums that he deals with facts. The fact is that there is no evidence whatsoever that Harley Poll was polled. It is a fact that the transmission of one particular gene through 10 generations has a chance of less than one in a thousand. The simultaneous transmission of polled ...

Michael Neilson
Sadly I have to report that Michael Neilson of Windyknowe Dexters, passed away on Tuesday. Many of us knew that Michael had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer some time ago, and that he bore the illness with great dignity, undergoing an arduous course of chemotherapy which we all hoped had been s...

Re: Linear Classification
I thought it was a good demo of the things that can go well and the things that go with getting less than EX results! Not all animals are going to be excellent, so it was good to see a spread of results, from animals not being awarded points due to eg overheight, to bull not having 4 well defined ev...

Re: Dexter Gateway Concept
There was discussion, I am not sure any definite conclusions were reached - some discussion on whether the same system would suit all areas, eg distances in Scotland make moving live steers expensive, TB in some areas causes complications, and some thought best to have discussion locally and see wha...

AGM 2018
As the AGM approaches it can be very difficult to know how to view a lot of different matters of concern. Sometimes it helps to look broadly at things rather than focusing on fine detail – where have we come from in the last year, and where do we want to be next year. Without going into great detail...
