Re: Two bulletins a year!
It isn’t the first time that Bulletin reductions have been suggested to be replaced by a newsletter. Editing the Bulletin is a thankless task and not something many would be willing to take on. Perhaps it would help if all the membership were on the mailing circular that goes out just before the dea...

Re: TB Testing Dates
I had the same problem, no success in doing it officially and just went overdue. Easily done as I wasn't selling anything and didn't claim any SFP If you do that - be on lock down for a few months do they not just revert back to your original overdue date next time or from the date the herd was act...

Re: Two bulletins a year!
If true about the Bulletin, this is not good but we don't know the reason for this - perhaps they don't have enough articles to make it worthwhile? As far as unconstitutional goes, I have not been impressed with the impartiality of the Bulletin in recent years. Here I make reference to a refused req...

Re: TB Testing Dates
Yes, I have moved mine. They used to allow you to move the date of your whole herd test forwards but not backwards but there was not a lot of wriggle room - I think it was 1 or 2 months. This was some time ago now so I don't know whether they have stopped it.

Re: Calf Dehorning Crates
I have the small IAE dehorning crush. It is an excellent aid but like Mark says you have to be very careful how you use it. It requires two people for safety reasons - one to do the disbudding and another to offer resistance at the back end of the calf as its natural instinct is to push back. If the...

Re: Secretary???
This problem is nothing new and both the breed and the society have survived such upheavals several times while I've been a member. I'm surprised Di hasn't mentioned David Key's retiring peroration at an AGM back in the 1980's, when he roundly condemned the entire council of the time. Many of those...

Re: Secretary???
It is very sad to see the current upset within our Society and the distress it is causing long standing members regardless of the rights and the wrongs of the situation we now find ourselves in. I have been keeping an eye on the Companies House web site for the filing of the accounts and it is poste...

Re: Vaccinations
When we first started in smallholding I used to vaccinate the sheep for anything going - even accidentally jabbed the other half for seven deadly sheep diseases! Now more reserved. Don't vaccinate the herd for BVD as we are in a health scheme and now with a closed herd policy don't vaccinate for oth...

Re: Monmouthshire/South Wales Group?
A Group is much needed in Wales and hope that this time round it keeps going. Further thoughts on e-group as perhaps it may help other groups struggling with attendances? How about two rates of membership fee? One that gives members e-mail communication only plus membership of a private online group...

Re: Two German Shepherd attack Dexters
Had an incident with a neighbour's dog that had escaped into one of our fields and was running a young bull and a finished steer just before Christmas. Was very concerned as the dog was ignoring the owner who was calling frantically from the fence line. Thankfully eventually the dog returned to its ...

Re: Secretary???
I had a call this morning to say that there is a rumour that the Secretary has been fired or made redundant. Not sure which as there’s a difference. Anyone know anything? I have no idea but changes to Secretary have to be registered with Companies House within 14 days. I do note that the accounts h...
