Hello This is probably a daft idea and I'm sure it must have been suggested before, but if there is a conflict between the requirements of dexter beef and retaining an original gene pool, why not have two classes of dexters? Dexters and Beef Dexters, or the other way around, Dexters and Pure-Bred D...

Hello

I am considering crossing some Dexters with a small Angus bull.

Has anyone had experience of doing this and the results with regards to the beef. In particular, did the meat retain any of the dexter flavour?

Hello Firstly, I agree in that beef needs promotion. It is totally undersold and under-represented for such a top quality product. The beef is 100% why we went in Dexters and it is the feature that I am interested in. We didn't fall into Dexters, it was a considered decision after doing a year or mo...

Hello With regards to my views that beef is not properly represented / promoted by the society, if I have raised some hackles, I apologise, that is not my intent. I am going to raise the issue in another way rather than do it online because it's not the right environment. So over and out on this on...

Hello I'm not sure this is exactly on the subject, but we have a substantial herd of dexters for beef and apart from getting registrations, I have to say that the society does nothing for us (Sorry to be blunt, but that's how it is). They miss huge opportunities re beef promotion and looking at the...

We produce dexter beef, totally grass-fed, and I have read and believe the omega 3 issues but don't hasve actual facts about our beef except one. I went down with a condition some years ago that means I have to be monitored carefully every six months, blood test especially. I eat loads of our beef,...

We regularly take animals for slaughter at 20/21 months and our butchers say they are just right. All are totally grass-fed on new leys with a lot of clover content, with Hay/Haylage/Silage being used indoors in the winter.
