I am hoping you are going to find you like dun after all. There is ‘dun’ and ‘dun’. I have seen animals described as ‘dun’ that I didn’t like at all, usually pale and washed out, and the result of a gene carried on from some distant outcross in the past. I hope I am not too late Chris. Firstly we all owe you a big thank you for the site, which is recognised world wide as being one of the best, which is why we get the very interesting contributions from abroad. When you take two Dexters out of their universe that they have always known, it is understandable that they want to make for home, and an environment and friends they know. They cannot appreciate the consequences of distance or mileage involved. I have always said of a Dexter, ‘if you stick it on t...

I have managed to put this reply under the wrong subject, am not very computer literate, here it is again. Perhaps I should have signed it ‘Woodmagic’, my reply came out in the March edition, and two more responses were published in the April copy. I would love to have been a fly on the editor’s of...

My reference to withers height has clouded the issue. For many years, measurements were always taken at the withers, fairly recently this was changed to pin measurement. I still tend to think in ‘old money’, and it makes a big difference. A bull, with a rump measurement of 44”, is likely to be arou...
