Faecal Egg Count Service

Post by bjreroberts »

Can anyone recommend a company to use for faecal egg counts?

I have done a web search and come across Abbey Diagnostics and Westage Labs at £7-8 per sample, but they seem to be equine only. Graig Farm Producers is another, but at £17.99+VAT for one test I would not bother.

We go to our local VLA office in Shrewsbury. Also, Hodges & Moss have a service but I don't know whether they are by you at all. Your vet will know your nearest VLA.

We've done FEC for a few years, and always take in samples when we see something runny. 9 times out of 10, it's nothing, just feed or whatever, but we still do it rather than routinely worm, in fact we've only ever wormed once in years and that was for what we assume was lung-worm, because of coughing.
