Well, yes, might not bother in that case, but prices could be a lot higher this year as a result.

It wasn't so much the lack of sparkle about these two beasts but the photo looked like they'd been photographed from the far hedge, in a muddy field, with tails dragging in the mud - that suggests to me that they can't get near them. At least in the ring you can see how calm/handled the animals are. :)

Melton & York (mid & late April respectively) are the two that immediately spring to mind.

My mistake; Melton is poultry only in the Spring sale.

Well, the cow with calf at foot I bought in October has done her calf well, and produced a nice none so little heifer last week, after not looking particularly in calf and not looking a lot different after calving, just getting on with the job, like a decent, genuine cow. Not like some cows which flake when you get them home and feed them some grass.

I haven't got a lot of [or any] money saved up yet but I'll go along to bid some prices up, as I'm always saying we should do if we want higher prices in the ring. A lot were entered last Spring but not many forward, which was annoying for potential buyers. Spring seemingly having sprung already, should bode well.
