Welcome back
Something that may interest - I have just finished (for the time being that is) calving and have calved 9. Unfortunately one was a breech birth and we lost the calf. Of the eight survivors - 3 were heifers and 5 bulls. The interesting bit was all the heifers are red and all the bulls black. I used a red bull on 6 black cows and a black bull on one red and one black heifer.

Hi Ted,
Its funny how the genes click sometimes :) ...one year I had all shortleg blacks (Ifemale 4males) and all the longlegs were red (4females 4males) and it looked like they were two different little herds when they were running in their calf paddocks.

All the best

Regarding Reds - they are all what is called in the trade non-short. Two are the lighter red the other darker.

Re dark red
She is a Red Poll/Sussex red.
I would anticipate that a bit of sunshine will cause her to fade !!
Hope not
