No, drove as in walked. It looked even more startled when one of the younger ones fell in the river! It's a good job Dexters are such good swimmers. Unfortunately I didn't have the light levels to take any photos.

Thought I would be safe enough here Rob, then someone pointed out that by broomstick Bute is not so far away from Yorkshire as I thought.

It seems to get wetter and wetter here. The Burnside herd usually stay up here from October till end of January without any extra feeding. The ground has a dry stane dyke boundary which usually has limousin and holstein heifers on the other side in summer, so not used until they go in for the winter. Lots of rough grass for them and lots of shelter from whins.

The second dexter cow we bought back in 2006, Foulrice Galaxy, 14 in February.
Our bull Humberdale Padison, who will be 6 next month.
Two heifers we bought last spring at the Pampas dispersal sale in malton, Clarinda and Charisma, 29 month and 27 months old.
