I have found that size does not seem to make much of a difference. The herd Matriach is an easy going non-short black and "second in command" is a bossy little short legged black. The herd parts around the feed ring to let either in, without any confrontation.
I have noticed that Dexters seem to be racist though! When I got my first red dexter, she was left totally on her own. Now that I have a group of reds, it is still often a "them and us" situation. I have a red bull, and so some of my blacks are having red calves. It does seem to be that the calves tend to seek out the red group!
Has any one else found this?
