Few points to remember:
The Dexters don't cost so much - either to buy or to feed. They are reasonably healthy animals and don't ruin the ground so much in wet weather as the heavier commercial breeds.
They are also easier to handle and you can run more animals per acre
Though the carcase is smaller, the product is at a premium - anyone who tastes well hung, well produced dexter beef doesn't want to go back to 'ordinary'.
They are also fun
It all really depends on what you want to do really
