Yes I agree the problems with finding a genetic 'control' plus standardising all the other variables like feed inputs. However, focussing on the wider cattle world - I can't believe a lot of research hasn't been carried out into optimum temperatures for beef growth ie where energy isn't wasted keeping warm (or avoiding high temperature stress). Do any farmers in America for example raise their beef in temperature controlled feed lots - anyone know? No I am not planning on air conditioning Shropshire - just curious.
