Planetree Talos comes available in Holland (AI)!
We heard he is assessed: as EX93. Body EX95, Breed Character EX95, Legs/Feet EX90, Rump
EX94.
Think that's a wonderful score for a nice bull.
Can't wait on his progeny being born on our smallholders farm!

Re: best age to wean?
A problem with weaning at 10 months is the bull that has to serve the cows for the next lactation.
How do you provide that the bull serves the young heifer calfs?

Nice film, lovely little animals. They are all very consistent in form , short and stocky. Both the bull and the cows appear very short in the leg . Does anyone know if this herd was Chondro free or not. When I look to the 3 calves I see 2 non-short and 1 shorty. In the herd I see some cows which s...

Duncan, indeed it is Ursula. Her calf sired by Cobthorn Dannyboy is 6 months old now. There is no horn growth seen yet! I think Dannyboy isn't polled, maybe Ursula is? Does anybody know if the knockbrandon herd was disbudding their female calves? Another possibility is that there will come scurs? A ...

Nice done! If you type just: EX9 or VG8 or GP8 or G7 or F7 or F6 or P6 in the field "name" you will find the animals with an assesment placed in that categorie! We are thinking to duplicate the way of publishing in Holland. I think it's a good system. A question we have: What happends if a...

Re: Linear Classification and Animal Health day, 16th July
In Holland we have lineair assesment during 2 years now. We copied a lot from the USA (ADCA) but our judge (a Holstein judge who judges Holstein Cattle as a fulltime job) had a great invluence on the scoring tables. Last spring Mary Kay has visited our AGM and scored some cows together with our judg...

Re: Average age for heifers to calve
We try to let them calve at 24 months. In the Netherlands most people with a own stockbull do. There are a lot of smallholders who hire a bull sometimes. When a heifer is not 14 months or she is to small to cover, she will be covered a year later. Some smallholders don't breed at al for a long time....
