Would it not be a good idea to start testing some herds or animals that were heavy on the Doesmead breeding just for peace of mind?

I've had my small herd tested for A2 and when we have more animals tested it will be interesting to see if A2 runs in lines etc etc. My results were 4 animals A2/A2 and 3 A1/A2. I contacted a friend in the Pacific NW as I know they have run some milk tests on their Dexters, here are some updated fi...

If you are really interested in A2 milk get the Book "Devil In the milk" by Keith Woodford. It's quite the eye opener, but I'm warning you it's not what I'd call an easy read. Worth it though. A friend lent his copy to his vet. The vet is a total believer from just reading the book. Anywa...

Are you testing for the A2 milk gene over there yet? If so I would say to try and start off with animals that are A2/A2 and you will be ahead of the curve, be able to use it in your advertising etc etc
Good luck with your venture, it will be a fun one I'm sure.

Hi Clive, I had a first time heifer abandon her calf last year and I'd had another cow calve a week earlier, so after bottle feeding it a few times he was good and strong, I just let him in with them both. He tried to feed right away and she kicked him off. Her own calf got up to feed and so long a...

I got so excited when Clive posted the link, but it says "the service is not available in my area" guess I can't access it from the USA. Can anyone else outside the UK get it?

Is that a BBC or ITV program? Just wondering if we may get it in the USA. If it's on the BBC we may get to see it over here, I hope so.
I hope it brings you all lots of Dexter enquiries and that it's a huge success.

You get 3 test results Quality Grade, tenderness and feed efficiency. It says in the test results that for quality grade that if the markers are reported that there is an increased likelihood that the carcass will grade choice or better. They are looking for 4 markers in this test. For tenderness t...

I just had my new bull tested and am about to get some of my cows done. A friend had about 8 of his done. Interesting that on feed efficiency out of 8 stars my bull got 6, and all the dexters ranked very well in efficiency. On quality and grade none of them ranked great, and on quality they ranked ...

Forgot to add, he doesn't have a clean sheath (umbilical hernia?), that seems to be a common thing in the States. It seems to be getting worse here. Does anyone know if that is a hereditary problem, I'm guessing it must be. I know it was one of the things that Judge Nancy Edge from New Zealand comm...
