Forgot to add, he doesn't have a clean sheath (umbilical hernia?), that seems to be a common thing in the States. It seems to be getting worse here. Does anyone know if that is a hereditary problem, I'm guessing it must be. I know it was one of the things that Judge Nancy Edge from New Zealand comm...

Kirk, for a 60 day old bull calf, he's very nice. He also has "presence", I don't think all bulls have that, some have it and know how to use it, not sure if you all know what I mean. Basically some strut their stuff and others just have no stuff to strut! LOL. He looks quite tall, but th...

I agree with Jo, Carrier or Non Carrier is the terminology that should be used, it's clear and concise.

I also agree with Duncan, I'm another one that doesn't like the "medium" terminology, just adds more confusion for people.

I'm apt to think that any red or brown that you see in a black animals coat is either dead hair, old hair, sun bleached hair, or lack of a good mineral program. Also, I think Dexters do carry the recessive white, maybe it's not the same as some spotting genes, but they must carry it or we wouldn't ...

Hi Beryl,
would you give us your theory on why you think the bulldog may have come in via the Devon, that's interesting.

Thanks,

hi, like Marion I had heard the 14 calves all from horned sires and all were polled, so it's interesting to hear a differing view on this. Moomin, if you have the herd books could you let us know the animals that you say were horned and then those that were polled, that would help get this sorted. ...

Thanks Martin,
what do they run cost wise in the UK and what weight are they?
Over here they weigh about 200Lbs and cost about $42 and up. 16-24% protein, depending on what you want.
