Re: Royal Welsh Show
Re TV coverage for the Royal Welsh. It was on live every day on S4c, If you use the red button selection you can select commentary in English. It is a great pity that the English Royal show folded as watching the Royal welsh demonstrates what a great advert it is for agriculture and rural pursuits i...

Re: Hay Making?!
Only 10 days ago I was begining to despair that we would never get our fodder made, however what a godsend the weather in Cheshire has been this last week, mowed 10 acres last Saturday and baled Wednesday. 32 round bales haylage, 20 round bales of hay, and 155 small bales. I hope others have been ab...

Re: Special Thanks
Sue and myself would also like to extend our thanks to Mark for establishing and running the Dexter Cattle for Sale website. All our surplus cattle over the last 5/6 years have been sold via the site and for prices that reflect their true value. No advertising is a big bonus. Agree with Lisa the dis...

Re: Steers wanted Cheshire Area
Hi Jean,
How are Fudge and the calf going on, have you used him as a stock bull ? re steers I was hoping for some closer to home as the cost of diesel adds so much on. What price are they ?
regards
Mark

Steers wanted Cheshire Area
I am looking for young, non-short steers 8 -12 months old in the Cheshire, Staffordshire or Derbyshire area to finish for beef. Heifers would also be suitable.

EBLEX Better Returns Programme
Following on from the the recent communication on worming policies etc., I was wondering how many breeders are registered with EBLEX Better Returns Programme. You can register with EBLEX (at no charge) and you will be invited to on farm beef/sheep events that they organise within your area. In addit...

Re: Post Natal Feeding
Hi Tim, I would continue to feed haylage or hay ad lib, I have a group of cows that calved Sept to Nov. have been outwintered with access to a shed, on adlib hay. Both cows and calves look really well. If you are concerned about the cow getting fat keep her off the corn, If you have concerns that st...

Re Injections, I am assuming you have given Estrumate, can you not purchase a bottle from your vets, do the injections yourself and save the cost of call outs ?

Re: feeding straw
Hobbs and Parker, Auctioneers at Asford in Kent do a fodder directory at this time of year, which they collate from farmers in the South East with surplus feed, is it worth a ring to them ?. You would need to buy a full load but could you then sell on any surplus to the local horse owners. Mark S Br...

Polled Animals
I have just looked at the Cattle for Sale and noticed that Apple Lancelot is being sold as a 'Polled Bull'. The picture clearly shows evidence of horn. This bull might well carry the polled gene however to sell him as a polled bull will cause confusion to some breeders (see replies to Monica's entry...
