Re: Cows in Zoos

The dexters at flamingo have been there for many years, they where given to them by some one who could no longer look after them on the conditions that they where never sold on and lived their lives out there. I didn't realize that they still had them as they must be quite an age by now. They have n...

AGM Ref Resolution 4

Ref voting for council members. I am not able to attend the AGM but even if I was, correct me if i am wrong but i thought we always had a secret ballet to elect new members to the council. I have never heard of giving someone my proxy vote to enable them to vote for me regarding this matter. If i ha...

Re: Election to Council

I wonder if it is time for the DCS like other charities to publicly advertise for trustees from all walks of life perhaps nothing to do with farming or livestock or indeed friends/family of those involved with the breed. I think this is a suggestion worth giving some thought to. Maybe it would be w...

Beef from old cows

Hi have a old girl of 16 and she has had problems calving the last couple of times so as she is getting a bit arthritic I'm wondering if it would be worth taking her to our local slaughter house and having the beef back, rather than have her put down on the farm and skipped.

Re: 2016 Herd Return

One of the problems with the herd book is the cattle that get sold to non members, I was recently trying to trace a cow and found she had been slaughtered, she was still alive on the herd book, hopefully she will now be recorded as dead as i notified the office. Sadly this means that a young bull wi...

Re: North of england Group Calf show

Ann says "There are also child handling classes with prize money,"

I wish I had known that years ago, mine are now in mid thirties and still not halter trained.

Re: Close the discussion board?

I think an 'in house' discussion board could work extremely well in conjunction with release of minutes. Giving members an opportunity to discuss various points. In cases of special projects for example, there could be a discussion and then a poll that would save an awful lot of money in cases wher...

Re: AGM Late Notification

For the past couple of years all communications from "The Office" and in the Bulletin have contained threats of penalties for members who are late with Birth Notifications. As the reason the DCS give for this rule, I assume once we are out of the EEC we will be able to have a meaning disc...
