Well, the day has arrived when, after breeding 85 Dexter calves, I have finished registering my lovely Dexter heifers and will now only birth notify them. Sadly they are worth so much more money for beef, even just selling straight to the abattoir, than I can get for them when selling them for breed...

Sometimes the sack can look quite big if the steer has been castrated fairly late. Hopefully it's just that. Fingers crossed!

Does anyone have links to definitive data about which supermarkets do / don't use Halal slaughtered meat?

I've just taken 3 to a local abattoir and they also butchered. I've paid £200 per animal in total, joints were packed, labelled and frozen for me. They also put them in 1/4s for me - although they had forgotten to do that but did it while I was waiting.

All being well, I'll pop over when the Ridgeback judging breaks for lunch

A shame - I would have been interested in attending, but I'm already attending an event at Stoneleigh on the same day (a dog show )

Umm - going to have to rethink ...

Can anyone recommend a company to deliver my frozen beef and lamb, please? I have enquiries from some distance away and it just isn't feasible to deliver it myself.
