I have a 3 month old heifer calf that has suddenly developed a very stiff gait. She has been very active since birth and I just moved the cattle to a new field. She joined everyone else in a mad gallop around the field. Within a day, she started walking with a very hunched back and stiff hind legs....

I'm sorry but after visiting the Dairy Event at its new home in the NEC only a couple of weeks ago, I just don't buy the explanations of the RASE and the Smithfield Club. If you visit any of the specialist farm shows, they are well attended by people doing business. In my work, I regularly meet peo...

Its a common problem with tractors. Years ago when I used to design them, I investigated warranty problems. One of them was that brake linings failed and produced cast iron dust that clogged the oil system and stopped the power steering from working. So the first symptom that your brakes were no go...

I've used Cotswold seeds, order on the internet and very quick delivery. I don't think they do fert coatings though, Oliver seeds do that. May be worth sub-dividing your pasture with an electric fence to allow one area to grow a little whilst the stock is grazing another area. I was given a tip for...

I investigate claims for insurance companies and I'm afraid that I can add an even worse tale. Three or four years ago, someone changed a tractor battery in the field and failed to pick up the old one. It was picked up by a Hesston big baler, and packed into a straw bale. The bale was sold to anoth...

I've used Dow agrochemicals Forefront. It kills docks, thistles and nettles without killing the grass, but it also kills clover. It prevents most of the nuisance weeds from coming back for a couple of years. Again you have to keep stock out of the field for 6/7 days. Oops!. I've just read that Fore...
