Forgot to say, have been thinking about selling "signed" autographs of the cow which kicked Janet, with a muddy foot print, on ebay...............! She certainly is a popular cow.

Janet did have good reason to swear, it was a good kick with an echo around the field as it struck home, it just depends how they edited it. I'll have to look again. Janet tried her udders once and got a warning leg, but was persuaded by the TV crew to give it another shot to get the right clip, bu...

I knew they would not edit out the kick!! I don't want to say too much yet as I don't know if they will show a bit more of Janet initially choosing her dexters or not. Sufffice to say that it was a long day's filming and a lot of preparation put in before hand to get the Dexters tolerate certain th...

Thanks for your kind words. Can't tell you how nervous I am ! I know there are good intentions behind this programme, and hopefully the Dexters will come out well in this. I am more worried about the odd comment I may have made after days with little sleep, which is then repeated to the nation! I h...

OK everyone, some people are aware of this, but most are not, that Dexters are going to be on the new series of The F Word, starting 3rd November. They will not be on every week, but most weeks throughout the series. Please do not condemn me for some of the things said and done, it depends how thin...

Just something which I have seen, possibly on this site. Something to do with not absorbing it so well if constantly exposed to high levels, so then they cannot take it when they need it. Sorry to be so fuzzy brained, had a long day.

I was of the opinion that if you give high mag all year round, then it is not beneficial, and that it is only effective if given at danger times. Where we are, the grass has been lush throughout the summer due to the rain(!) so reduced risk of staggers now. Also, if all stock are given it, do be wa...

Interesting what you say regarding mothers abandoning the female calf, as that is exactly what happened with mine last year. The mum was doting on her son and just walked away from the female after she had calved. The poor little thing was desperately trying to coordinate her legs and walk after he...

Agree with Sue. Be patient, and you certainly don't want to stress them out close to calving. They often do get a bit more " cuddly" in the week before calving, so just take it slowly and steadily and they will learn to trust you.

My thoughts are that those that are slowest to lose their winter coats are indeed the poorest ones in the herd, but are ones that possibly could have a mineral ( or minerals) deficiency and are not thriving as well. Instead of removing them from the herd though, I would try to rectify the problem w...

We are like you Mark, here in North Yorks. Despite some wet weather the ground is now very dry and grass growth reduced. Very little getting cut yet despite the good weather.
