Re: No Dexters have 100% Complete Pedigrees back to Dublin
I must correct my last post Moomin Macduff had his horns removed as an older bull by his owners Mr. and Mrs. Reed. They have a very small holding and found it was easier to manage animals without horns.

Re: No Dexters have 100% Complete Pedigrees back to Dublin
Moomin Macduff was disbudded at 4 weeks old. He is genetically horned. I have all my calves disbudded as do most of the breeders here in the UK. I cannot cope with horns, much as I like the look of them. You cannot assume that a cow is genetically hornless if it has been disbudded. I don't know whet...

I take exception to your statement that no breeder follows the 1900 herd book standard.
Best take a trip to the UK!!
Think you may have to eat your words or maybe your hat?

Re: Calf - hand rearing help please.
If you haven't got a crush then pen mum up and put calf in a pen next to her, sheep hurdles are useful for this! Go to supermarket and buy whole milk to feed to calf - bit more expensive than powdered but calf will tolerate better. Feed about 4 pints a day in 2 or 3 feeds to start with if short leg....

Re: Pat Short, Operation
Saw Pat last week and she looked much better than expected. She is hoping to get to the AGM and bring some pictures. I have posted a picture of her on facebook but don't know how to post pics here.

Re: AGM Ref Resolution 4
As a candidate standing for election I am not happy that there is not a "secret" ballot. Election to council should have been separate from the resolutions as it has always been.

Re: Pat Short, Operation
Update. Have just spoken to Pat - her voice is still very hoarse as she has radiation burns to her throat and mouth. She has asked me to thank you all for all your good wishes, cards and flowers. She is very touched by your concern for her. She is back in her own home now. I will update again when I...

Re: Dexter Sale at Exeter Livestock Market
I suggested we had an upset price at official sales many years ago. Maybe we should be thinking about it now?

P.S. Just realised Inky Minx is a grand daughter of Pollydoodle and great grand daughter of Polly. Obviously acting is in the blood.

Re: Wise Inky Minx has night out in Mayfair!
My name must have been in BBC archives somewhere Mark from previous filmings and I passed them on to Felicity as I knew Minx would be suitable and not let the breed down. I don't have the energy to take cows to TV studios now although it was great fun in the past. Have left some very messy TV studio...
