He is actually my baby boy1 Moomin Sun King. "Sunny".

Hi Lottie.
Mark took a lovely pic of him at Newbury, Mark is such a good photographer, but I don't know how to put it on the board and I would need to ask permission anyway.
As I probably said he was a complete surprise! His mother, Kara, hadn't calved for 3 years and I was going to bite the bullet and get rid of her. When we brought her down off the hill she seemed to have started to bag up, 6 weeks later Sunny arrived! The only bull that could have stocked her was Apollo who had returned home because he was firing blanks, or so we thought. Our secretary will tell you I was sweating on the DNA results!
Apollo is also the sire of Kara. When line breeding goes right it picks up all the good strong genes and this seems to have happened here. His real strength is that he goes back to Statenboro' Polly 21st who was the only cow to reach Elite status [3 stars] in the old DCS elite cow scheme for the quality of her progeny.
Sunny looks to be Apollo's last fling. He is called Sun King after Louis 14 who built Versailles and modelled himself on the God Apollo. Louis 14 was known as the Sun King.
I have got a few calves on the ground from Sunny which look quite nice. He is "long" [bred from 2 "long" parents] If all goes well we will take semen from him soon - never count your semen until it is frozen!

Mark,
Would it be possible to have a full size photo of this bull on this page?
There has been quite a lot of interest in him and it would be nice for newcomers to see what a good bull should look like.
